GitLab CI Pipeline Generator
Pick your stack to get a .gitlab-ci.yml with a job image, dependency caching, lint, build and test jobs, merge request and branch rules, and optionally a version matrix, build artifacts and a Docker build-and-push job for the GitLab Container Registry. Leave command fields empty to use the stack's defaults.
About the GitLab CI Pipeline Generator
The GitLab CI Pipeline Generator creates a .gitlab-ci.yml for Node.js (npm, yarn or pnpm), Python, Java with Maven or Gradle, Go, .NET and Rust. It sets the job image, dependency caching keyed on your lock file, lint, build and test jobs, an optional version matrix with parallel:matrix, optional build artifacts, merge request and branch rules, and an optional Docker build-and-push job for the GitLab Container Registry.
How to use the GitLab CI Pipeline Generator
- Pick the project type and the branches that should run the pipeline.
- Adjust versions and any install, lint, build or test commands, or leave them empty for the defaults.
- Click Generate pipeline and save it as .gitlab-ci.yml in the repository root.
Frequently asked questions
What do I need for the Docker job?
A Dockerfile in the repository root and a runner that allows Docker-in-Docker (a privileged runner). The job logs in with GitLab's built-in CI_REGISTRY variables and pushes the commit SHA tag and latest on the default branch.
Can I check the file before committing?
Yes. Paste it into your project's pipeline editor in GitLab, which validates it against your project's settings. The generator checks its own input but does not contact GitLab.
Are my data stored when I use the GitLab CI Pipeline Generator?
The text you submit is processed in memory to produce the result and is not saved. Like any web server, Code Converter logs basic visit data (page, IP address and browser) but never the content you paste.
Is the GitLab CI Pipeline Generator free, and can I call it from a script?
It is free and only needs a free account (log in first). The same tool is available as a REST endpoint at POST /api/gitlab-ci-generator; see the API documentation for the fields and examples.
